Like An American

I've been told many times that my style is "patriotic". (In other words, my closet has a disproportionate amount of red, white, blue and striped items. What can I say, red, white & blue is my power combo.) So naturally, I had a particularly tough time deciding what to wear on the Fourth of July. Ensue wardrobe crisis.

After about half of my closet had been spilled on the floor in several failed attempts to find just the right outfit, I finally landed on this dress. I got this dress several years ago from Anthropologie right before I went to Paris, because I thought it would be très magnifique for life in France. Little did I realize how well it would also work back home in the States. Stripes? Chambray? Pairs well with neutrals? Instant American classic.

I had been coveting an oversized, floppy hat for quite some time - so I was thrilled when I found this one at J.Crew for a reasonable price. I jazzed up the outfit with my favorite blingin' bracelet and a tortoise shell watch, along with some summery leather sandals and a matching belt.

Dress - Anthropologie | Hat - J.Crew | Shoes - Michael Kors
Bracelet - J.Crew | Watch - Anne Klein | Nail Polish - "Geranium" by Essie

I'm already brainstorming more red, white & blue outfits to wear for Bastille Day coming up on July 14th! (Because let's face it - I may be American by blood, but I am truly French at heart.) What did you wear this past Fourth of July? Do tell!
